Chevening Scholarship Scheme: Ambassador Hosts Reception (03/09/2009)
The British Ambassador hosted a reception this evening for the new Albanian Chevening Scholars, who will shortly be departing to start their studies in the UK. In academic year 2009/10, four Albanian students will attend Masters courses at Universities in the UK, funded through the British Embassy’s Chevening Scholarships Scheme.
The reception was also attended by members of the large Albanian Chevening Alumni community, and British Council and British Embassy staff. Chevening scholarships are awarded annually and applications are usually invited at the end of the year preceding the year of intended study. The new Scholars had the opportunity to meet and talk with former Scholars and Fellows, as well as Embassy and British Council staff connected to the Chevening scheme.
The Ambassador spoke to those attending the reception about the importance the Embassy attaches to the Chevening scheme, and its value to the UK-Albania relationship, and Albania’s future integration in the European Union.
After her speech, the Ambassador presented certificates to former Chevening Scholars and Fellows.
