• Registration of deaths and births can be lodged at the British Embassy in Tirana for dispatch to the British Embassy Rome. The process will take a minimum of 4 weeks.
• Consular birth registration provides your child with a British style birth certificate. This means that in the future you will be able to obtain copies from the General Registrar’s Office in the United Kingdom.

Services provided by the British Embassy in Tirana

• Timings are for applications and requests that are correctly made and supported. We can advise you of what is required.
• For those calling at the Consulate requiring urgent consular assistance, please advise the attending Embassy guard of your need to speak to a member of the consular staff. Our target is to attend to you within 10 minutes of your arrival. If practicable, you may also book an appointment by telephone.
• Consular fees are determined by the British Parliament in Pounds Sterling, but are changed and paid in local currency. Fees may therefore change from time to time with currency fluctuations.
• The fees are only calculated at a current consular rate of 160 Leke/£ and are not refundable.
• Only cash payment is accepted.

Consular fees are not refundable, except in the following categories:
Fees for the following services will be refunded in the event of a failed application

• birth registrations
• death registrations
• passport applications in certain circumstances. However, passport fees for failed, refused and withdrawn applications are non-refundable
